就在05年，Gnarls Barkley这个名字对于广大歌迷而言还都是非常陌生的，但就在06年春，Gnarls Barkley组合和他们的热门单曲《Crazy》仿佛从天而降，一夜之间就红遍全球。当然，提到Gnarls Barkley，首先要说的还是他们这支大获成功的单曲《Crazy》。06年四月初，《Crazy》在发行之后仅仅依靠网络下载的销量就在英国流行音乐单曲榜中获得了冠军。此后，《Crazy》一连九周在英国单曲榜中都稳坐头把交椅，直到Gnarls Barkley主动宣布取消《Crazy》在英国单曲榜中继续打榜，《Crazy》才未能继续“疯狂”的独霸英国单曲榜，这种例子在当今的流行音乐届还是非常罕见的。四月底，Gnarls Barkley的首张专辑《St Elsewhere》在英国专辑榜中首周上榜便空降冠军，使他们在当周包揽了英国的专辑与单曲两个排行榜。在美国，Gnarls Barkley的成绩虽然没有在英国这么突出，但在滚石杂志的年终评选中，《Crazy》毫无争议的当选为“年度最佳单曲”。
