与其说G-Unit是一支50 cent和其他成员，Lloyd Banks, Young Buck 还有Tony Yayo组成的乐队不如说这是他的私人乐团，然而常常被看成是50 cent的附庸，但是四位乐队成员一直和50 cent形影不离，完全没有出现那些个人单飞成功后，整个组合分崩离析老套剧情。

为了保证在50 cent本人的歌曲《要钱不要命》Get Rich or Die Tryin'之后能够继续大获成功，本专辑征集了16位作者使用吉他、管弦乐和电子乐编辑等方式制作了全部18首歌曲，然而全专辑仍然像是他自己个人专辑的延续，G-Unit发行的这张《乞求怜悯》专辑中仍然充斥着浓重的50 cent风格，饶舌，吹嘘，围绕犯罪和女人以及金钱的喋喋不休。"Poppin Them Thangs"， "Eye For an Eye" 还有"G'd Up"听起来都像是忘记收录在《要钱不要命》里才会放到《乞求怜悯》，尽管听过这张专辑的人品评不一，很多人甚至表示“这是一张商业流水碟”，然而《乞求怜悯》仍然挟50 cent和《要钱不要命》之势好好在2003年年尾风光了一把。
